With the growing popularity of Cornhole or ”Bag Toss” in the North Platte area, the North Platte Sports Commission has teamed up with local American Cornhole League (ACL) regional director, Jen McDermott from Kearney, to bring you a Midwest Regional Cornhole Tournament at the D&N Event Center. The North Platte Area Sports Commission and the American Cornhole Organization has teamed up to bring you the ACO Master Series Major Cornhole Tournament this January. On Friday, January 10th, the ACO will host 4 of its 6 divisions – Juniors, Seniors, Women’s, and Co-ed. Saturday, January 12th, is going to be the “big dance” where competitors will compete in the World Doubles and Singles. The Omaha Gymnastics Invite, February 14-16, will bring athletes from across the Midwest to compete for honors in the sport of men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics. Over 500 boys and girls ages 5 thru 18 will enjoy the fine facilities at Papillion Landing as the host venue for the competition. The 4th Annual North Platte Area Sports Commission Tanking Race is an exciting adventure in the middle of winter... in a stock tank. It's up to the weather man to determine if we wear shorts or a parka on this 2 mile trek down the Platte River from Buffalo Bill State Recreation Area to Cody Park. This event is an annual fundraiser for the North Platte Area Sports Commission and helps fund and support sports tourism driving events into our community each year. The Omaha Sports Commission Award Show will hold its second annual red carpet night at the Holland Center this May. The award show honors sports figures from the Omaha metro area. Awards include Team of the Year, Moment of the Year, Female and Male Athlete of the Year and many more. This night also inducts the 2020 Omaha Sports Hall of Fame Class which includes George Andrews, Jessica Haynes, Ike Mahoney, Gene Williams and the 1960 Omaha South Boys Basketball Team.
