NORFOLK - Approximately 250 bicycle riders from across the United States are expected to gather in Norfolk over the first weekend in August for the annual 7 Cities Century Bike Ride. On Saturday morning, Aug. 4, riders will begin non-competitive event at the head of the Cowboy Trail at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park, then pedal south to Madison and west to Newman Grove where they'll spend the night. Sunday's route runs from Newman Grove to Tilden, Meadow Grove, Battle Creek and then back to Norfolk. Visit the web site http://www.7citiescentury.com/ for more information.
NORFOLK – The Norfolk Country Club is hosting some of the best golfers in the Midwest for the annual three-day Labor Day Golf Classic Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 & 2.
The Bellevue University Volleyball program has hosted the LARGEST NAIA regular season tournament in the country for the past several years. It has grown from a small 5 team tournament to a present 26 team festival of some of the best teams in the country. We hope that you can come out and watch some of the best players from the area, as well as teams from California, Montana, and stretching to Michigan and Indiana.
NORFOLK – Trap shooters and archers team up to compete in a Calcutta trap shoot and archery competition Sept. 15 & 16. Trap shooters and archers will be drawn into teams. Trap shooters will shoot from the 16-yard line Saturday and handicapped distances Sunday. Meanwhile, archers will compete in a 3D shoot Saturday and a target field hunt Sunday. The trap shoot will take place at the Elkhorn Valley Sportsman Club Trap & Skeet Range east of Norfolk and the Norfolk Archery Club outdoor range south of the city.
Omaha River City Rodeo will return to the CenturyLink Center Omaha September 28-29, 2018. Two nights of high caliber PRCA rodeo will feature all 7 rodeo events including steer wrestling, team roping and bull riding. World champion cowboys will be competing at the rodeo for their official entry into the National Finals Rodeo.
76 miles. 19 exchange points. 6, 7, or 8 person teams. 1 unforgettable day. The 76 mile course is broken into 19 stages and a team finish with each runner taking on about three stages. Stages range from about 3 to 5 miles on a mixture of bike trails, paved roads, gravel roads and highways between Omaha and Lincoln. After the race, runners are invited to stick around for the Pepsi Post-Race Shindig. There will be food, drinks, entertainment, as well as expo.
Creighton Quidditch will be hosting the second annual Blue Jay Classic Tournament to kick off the 2018-19 season. This is a premier event in the fall leading up to the first round of the regional championships. Teams from across the Midwest will be competing!
